Minerva's by the Sea is one of only two bed and breakfast spots located on the north end of Long Beach Island, New Jersey. On top of that, we are the only Barnegat Light lodging that is open all year long! It is our promise to deliver an unforgettable adventure.

Our Library
When bringing kids, please be sure to check out the second-floor library! It offers up something for everyone: games, children's toys, and books, books, books: fiction-and/or-film-lovers, travel-buffs, history-geeks, car-freaks, food-lovers, and art-and-museum followers, Lego enthusiasts, fairy-tale followers --and others --will find plenty here to amuse. It is a nice, relaxing place to bring your kids while renting out our kid-friendly vacation homes on the New Jersey shore.
What To Eat
If you are bringing kids, I am sure you are conscious of what they might be eating. You can rest assured knowing that we have many delicious and healthy options to choose from on the menu. We can gear is to respond to any of your dietary needs. Our breakfast menu includes fresh fruits, bread, eggs, yogurt, cheeses, cereals, granola, nuts, seeds, along with the hot entree. And in terms of helping with dietary restrictions, we offer food options that are gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. So no matter your diet, our food is sure to satisfy your cravings.
Thundering Surf Waterpark
Want to beat the heat without spending the day at the beach in LBI? Spend the day splashing around at Thundering Surf Waterpark, where water-filled fun awaits the whole family. Bigger kids can race down twisting slides or relax along the lazy river, while younger visitors enjoy Cowabunga Kids, an interactive play area packed with mini slides and splash buckets. Family-owned and operated since 1977, the park also features a neighboring miniature golf course for even more fun once everyone dries off.
Hartland Golf and Arcade
Tee off for some friendly family competition at Hartland Golf and Arcade, home to 18 holes of classic LBI mini golf fun. Players of all ages can test their skills on the front and back nine, and young golf enthusiasts can even join the weekly Wednesday morning tournaments to compete with fellow mini golfers. For another round of seaside-inspired fun, head to Sand Trap, a beach-themed course featuring coastal décor and a charming mini lighthouse.
Barnegat Lighthouse State Park
Spend a relaxing afternoon exploring Barnegat Lighthouse State Park at the northern end of Long Beach Island. Families can enjoy a picnic, stroll scenic paths through the maritime forest, and take in views from one of the island’s most recognizable landmarks. The park is also a popular spot for birdwatching and fishing, and kids can learn how the lighthouse once guided ships traveling along the coast toward New York Harbor.
To dive deeper into the island’s maritime past, stop by the NJ Maritime Museum in Beach Haven, where exhibits feature shipwreck artifacts, vintage photographs, navigation tools, and other nautical treasures. You can also visit the Long Beach Island Historical Museum, where knowledgeable volunteer guides share stories of the sailors, whalers, and generations of visitors who helped shape the island’s history.
